Did you just come back from Japan and you learned some important travel tips? Do you have a favourite destination in Japan you want to share? Are you currently living in Japan and want others to know the secrets of your town? Are you working/teaching/studying/living abroad? Are you looking for a place to share your story of an exciting or meaningful travel moment? Did you learn something about yourself while travelling or living abroad (anywhere in the world)? Something else?

Good news – I’m accepting guest posts, and I’d love to read your pitches! Please read the guidelines before submitting your ideas. Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in a non-response.

All guest posts must be high-quality and completely original. This means they are informative, inspirational, personal, or provide some type of value to readers. Do not fill your writing with fluff. Please browse the posts on my blog to see the type of writing and content I publish. Your guest post should be complimentary to mine. Types of posts I’m open to include:

  • Travel tips
  • Travel guides
  • Itineraries
  • Attractions
  • Personal stories
  • Travel lessons
  • Cultural insights

I generally publish posts on Mondays, so your guest post will be published on Monday as it fits into my schedule.

Writing guidelines:

Blog posts should generally be related to travel in Japan or life in Japan. The majority of readers of Stewie Overseas are interested in Japan and are looking for Japan travel tips, attractions in Japan, or experiences of life in Japan. However, don’t be afraid to go beyond Japan topics. General travel posts, other country travel posts, work/life/study abroad posts, or posts about travel photography may be accepted if they meet requirements and standards. If you have a great idea, send me your pitch!

Readers of Stewie Overseas are 67% women and are usually between the ages 18 and 34. They come from diverse backgrounds, though they are mainly from the United States, Japan, Canada, and the UK. Please keep this in mind. Be considerate of a diverse audience, try and imagine if what you are writing will be offensive, and be reflective of your privilege and experiences.

You don’t need to be a blogger to submit a pitch or a guest post! I will accept well-written and relevant blog posts even if you don’t have your own blog. However, any final blog posts you submit to me will be subject to my editing, and I am a ruthless editor.

Also be aware: Your blog posts must be your own original content and must not be re-published anywhere else in any form, including on your own blog. Any duplicate material will not be accepted.

To contribute send your pitches to jennifer [at] stewieoverseas [dot] com. I’m looking forward to reading your ideas.
