Thank you so much to Kristyn from Travel Nerd Plans for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award!

Thank you for nominating me for the blogger recognition award. I really like that Kristyn admits to being a bit nerdy when it comes to planning travel, even if it’s a trip for someone else. I know I can relate. She also has a series called “The Smooth Traveler” that makes for a funny read. Head over to her site and show some love, eh!

Blogger Recognition Award rules

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your blog award.

The story of my blog

I started blogging at the beginning of 2017. This is my first time blogging, though I had been thinking about it for a few month before. I thought I had some good stories from my travels and people should know about them, too. My gift to the world.

I was also busy finishing writing up my Master’s thesis and a few other papers for school. I don’t consider myself a great creative writer, but I don’t mind writing and wanted to do something that was not academic. Something freer and more relaxed. I’ve always been a bit artistic, but I think like a lot people, my creativity had gotten squashed over the years.

I recently moved to a self-hosted blog. The main reason for this is because I like to have control over my life. And wanted to be able to do more and make my site prettier and better. I’ve realized it’s quite a lot of work to make a self-hosted blog. But, I like a challenge, and I guess I’m learning things.

It would be great if I would be able to make some money from it as well, but that might be setting my hopes too high. It’s not like the world needs another travel blog. Ah well.

 Advice for new bloggers

This is tough because I still consider myself a new blogger. I don’t know if I’ve been around long enough to be one to give blogging advice. So I’ll just say, “have fun.” Write about what you want, when you want, how you want. There are a lot of people on the internet. Someone will be interested in reading it.

I didn’t know so many would be interested in reading about my new rice cooker.

I will say, if you think that you might want to have a self-hosted blog in the future I recommend doing it sooner rather than later before your blog gets really big. It will make the transition easier.

My nominations

I’m supposed to nominate fifteen people for the Blogger Recognition Award, but that is too many. I will nominate seven instead.

  1. 2 Blue Eyes
  2. Eat Sleep Love Travel
  3. Little World Adventure
  4. Flying Through Water
  5. Earth’s Magical Places
  6. Ono Okinawa
  7. Minion Travels

My apologies if I have nominated you before. Of course, everyone is free to ignore this award if they wish.

Finally, I am off now to let these blog owners know that I have tagged them for the Blogger Recognition Award. Have a wonderful day!
