“This is Japan” is a weekly blog post where I talk a little about my life here.
It’s a place where I can share some of the strange, funny, or thought-provoking stories from my week. You can learn a little about what it is like to live in Japan and some of the weird and wonderful things here.

This week, I don’t have a single topic to write about, but a few little things I want to mention.
1. First of all, I want to take a moment to say “thank you” to Rachel over at Hippie in Heels for giving me the idea to do this mini series.
She runs a successful and inspiring travel blog, which you should really check out. It includes lots of travel tips and ways to make travel glamorous not only in retrospect.
She also has a “This is India” series, since she is currently living in Goa, India. I though this was a good idea that I could do about Japan too. Thank you, Rachel.
2. Next I want to say that I have not been super active on the WordPress Reader for the last couple weeks, though I’ve been trying to post regularly. I was busy going to Okinawa, coming back to Nagoya, preparing for my graduation, and then graduating!!
That’s right! I have successfully completed my Master of Arts in International Development!! I must say, I am quite proud of myself. This is quite the accomplishment.
Next step: PhD.
3. Also, I am thinking about moving to a self-hosted blog. I have been thinking about it for a couple months now, but it is a bit scary. I’ve been reading a lot and trying to educate myself on everything that is entailed in the switch.
I don’t want to lose all my followers though. So if I move, I hope you will follow me over to my new site and continue to leave thoughtful comments on my posts. Pretty please.
However, I want a bit more control than the free WordPress offers, and I think the best/only way to do that is to go self-hosted. It does cost a bit of money though…
4. Finally, I want to remind you about my photo in the photo contest over at Indy Guide! Its a photo that I took while I was in Mongolia.
Click over to the photo contest and vote on my photo! It seems that the photo contest has started over because it’s a new month, so go right ahead and VOTE AGAIN!!
